- ANTICIPATING continued choral exploration beyond the expected
"The genre of choral music has been adopted and championed by a new generation of composers, who comprehend utterly and exploit beautifully the choral sound. They recognize that singers make music in a way that musical instruments can only emulate. It's an exciting time to be experiencing choral music." — Mary Beekman

The Spirit Is Still Speaking: Choral Music of the Modern Era
A world première by Jan Sandström commissioned to celebrate our 50th anniversary; Britten's Sacred and Profane, op. 91; Penman's Becoming; Netzer's Paths of Stone and Water, and other music honoring the sacred.
This concert looks back to the original mission of Musica Sacra—to sing sacred music of the European Renaissance—and carries it into the next turn of the spiral with an exciting exploration of sacred music composed in the past 50 years.

Mary's Playlist: All-Time Favorites
This will be an eclectic mix of Artistic Director Mary Beekman’s favorites culled from 30 years of programming. Expect this concert to run the stylistic gamut—from Senfl's praise of the Virgin Mary to Dinerstein's hopping frogs—as we celebrate the wide range of the choral medium and its ability to inspire, entertain, thrill, and move us.
